What are Kidney Stones?

In English translation:

What are Kidney Stones?

Kidney stones are hard deposits of minerals, which take the form of stones in the kidney. At first they start out as very small particles, over time they grow into stones. Our kidneys filter waste materials from the blood and include them in urine produced by the kidneys. When urine wastes do not dissolve completely, they take the form of crystals and kidney stones.

– How are they made?

Usually urine contains chemicals, which prevent the formation of crystals. Some people have more kidney stones than others. Kidney stones occur due to some reasons such as frequent urinary tract infections, drinking less water or obstruction of the urinary tract. Kidney stones can also occur due to excessive amounts of oxalate or uric acid in food, excessive vitamin C or D, certain types of medicines and diseases related to the digestive system.

-What are its symptoms?

Small, smooth kidney stones remain in the kidney or pass out with urine (called “silent” stones) without causing any pain. Such stones, which get deposited in the tube that carries urine from the kidney to the bladder, cause spasm and pain in the urinary system. This pain is not related to the size of the stone and this pain often spreads from the lower back to the side of the waist or thigh.

Other symptoms:

1- Pain around the abdomen and kidneys

2- Frequent urination

3-blood in urine

4-Nausea and vomiting

5-Pain while urinating

6-urinary tract infection, fever, chills

7-How is kidney stone diagnosed?

Stone location and pain intensity X-ray KUB 75% of urinary stones and radio opac, which shows in X-ray.-

  • Rest 25% of Ultrasound Urinary Stones
  • Is radio lucent, visible in ultrasound.
  • Intravenous pyelogram (IVP): Intravenous pyelogram (IVP) involves injecting contrast (dia) into the vein and taking several X-rays to diagnose the condition of the kidney.

– How is it treated?

Drink plenty of water to flush out small stones. Some types of stones dissolve with medication, however, calcium stones do not come out on their own. Their treatment is necessary.

Do’s and Don’ts:

  • Coconut water further inhibits potassium in it. is more, so this stone formation
  • Minerals are high in vegetables, carrots, bitter gourd, which act as a blocker for stones.
  • Fruits and juices Bananas contain vitamin E6, which breaks down oxalic acid in the body and prevents the formation of stones.
  • Pineapple juice contains enzymes that prevent the formation of kidney stones by decomposing the fibers.
  • Fibers, barley, oats are rich in stone blockers.
  • Almonds are high in potassium and magnesium, which act as stone blockers.
  • Vegetables, tomatoes, cashews are high in oxalate, which can cause urinary stones.
  • Cauliflower, Brinjal, Mushrooms are high in uric acid / purine, due to which stones are formed.
  • Fruits and fruit juices, Chickpeas, Grapes Contain oxalate. There is more, from which urinary stones can be formed.
  • Non-vegetarian food like mutton, chicken, fish, egg- these are high in uric acid, purine components, which can lead to stone formation.
  • Chocolate / Cocoa Other chocolate drinks, tea and coffee are high in oxate, which can lead to urinary stones.

How to prevent kidney stones?

Generally, take water or liquids in large quantities for this. If possible, eat less citrus fruits, mutton, salt, food containing high oxalate like chocolate, dry fruit etc. Those who have a complaint of stones should not eat it, because calcium oxalate stones are formed from them. In such a situation, fluid should be drunk in more quantity so that more than 2 liters of urine can be produced in the body per day.
